"But Mama, how do you know things like that?"
"Because I'm so smart!"
"No, you're not smart at all!'
"What? Why am I not smart?"
"Well, basically because you're so...ummm...schrivey."
"What does that mean?"
"It means that you drive cars and basically just do what you do."
"Oh, I see."

This quilt has been on my "to do" list for a long time. I sewed the top over a year and a half ago and then had it quilted. It was the kind of project that makes you feel guilty for doing anything else because it still needed to be finished...It gave me a bit of "project paralysis" :) I can finally move on. I finally faced my fears of binding and finished it. Feels good.

"Mom, my head is really circley (cir-cuh-lee) when you put my hair in a pony!"

Taking a walk through the neighborhood and there was someone in his yard...
"But Mom, he will see us and we're pretty womans!"
picnic sabotage!
Boy, do we have a mischievous troublemaker on our hands! Jaina gets into EVERYTHING! She makes her favorites rounds.
First stop: Tap's dog dish.
Second stop: the bookshelf.
Third stop: the wall outlet in the hall.
Fourth stop: under the desk in Daddy's office.
(Not to mention all the other electrical cords and dangers along the way...) Her fascination right now as I type this is Daddy's wireless mouse. :)
The tough thing is that she's such a good baby in every other way! It's so hard to discipline her and make her cry...Just need to keep telling myself that it's for her own good!
She's the easiest baby to to put to bed...make sure she's fed and dry, lay her down and voila! Done.
I think she had a growth spurt in the last 2 weeks...she's now wearing all of Ava's old 12 month clothes.
Made some spaghetti and meatballs for lunch today and blended some of it up for Jaina. She loved it!
She's also working getting another 2 teeth on the top for a total of 6....
...and she goes from crawling to sitting!

I was surprised tonight when I held Jaina up tonight and happened to glance into her mouth...2 new top front teeth! I don't know when they came through but the last time I checked there was no sign of any! So now that makes 4...pretty easy teether so far. :)

She ran to the bathroom and took her braid out.
"Feel my hair Mom! It's really thumpy!"

"Mom, I just really love you cuz your just so original, Mom."

I just made a bunch of baby food! I used the Ninja that Mom gave me for my birthday and it worked perfectly. Some of it I put in small freezer containers but most of it I put in ice cube trays to pop out and put in freezer bags later. The ones I've let Jaina try so far have been a hit and she's very vocal in her appreciation for good food. :) "MMmmmmmmmmm!"
  • Apple Bean
  • Pear and Baby Broccoli
  • Applesauce
  • Pear Sauce
  • Blueberry Banana Oatmeal
  • Carrot Parsnip Peach
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Barley Chicken Vegetable Soup
I can't wait to feed her all of the delicious food. :)
(hopefully her tummy can handle it)

I think the move to her own room was a good one. The first couple of nights were rough but last night Jaina slept from 8 pm to 8 am and woke only once at 4 am - the first time since before Thanksgiving. I absolutely love that I can just lay her down for naps and bedtime and she falls asleep with little fuss. Such an easy baby. :)
getting the hang of it!

"Ava, you don't want to waste any food so sit up and eat the rest of your breakfast."
"But Mom, (glancing outside) the sun is hungry too! It needs sun food. What can the sun eat?"
"Ummm...I don't think the sun needs any food to eat."
(sitting in her chair again) "But Mom, I'm not hungry with egg. I'm just hungry with...ya know...yogurt...don't you know?"

update: She ate all of her egg and a whole yogurt after that. :)

On the first day of the new year we went out for a little walk. It was cold so I made Ava put on a coat. I couldn't convince her to take off her flower shoes and put on her boots though. By the time we got to the golf course she had taken off her coat claiming that she was hot and didn't need it. Picture this: Long blonde hair blowing in the wind, bright pink, frilly Dora dress, hot pink flower sandals and 37 degrees. She ran for most of the way. On the way down one of the hills, we warned her to slow down so that she wouldn't fall (she almost always falls running down one of the hills).
Mom: "Slow down Ava! You don't want to fall!"
Daddy: "Yeah Ava, you don't want to fall. That would be bad!"
Ava: "Yeah! That would be badder than a spankin!" (still running as fast as those hot pink flower shoes would carry her) :)
